While in my everyday
routines, I often come upon naturally
occurring
visuals,
where the subject of the image is
not a person or object, but the Light
itself
or its reflection,
or in the case of
Shadows, the absence of Light.
Over
the last few years, I have begun to collect and create images that
show
others
things light
does “when nobody’s looking,” or
scenes
that we pass in our everyday
lives, but
may fail to appreciate
in
shape or symmetry. My
goal is
to bring those images to the
consciousness of my audience.
Generally I like for
the Sun to supply the "paint and canvas."
I look to share images that return to the basics of
how we perceive light and darkness
and their interplay, watching as light creates forms and
patterns almost as contrasting yin-yang elements.
I strive for simple
pictures that show others what I saw in one
fleeting momentary glimpse. I feel my subjects are
virtually "ripped" from their actual occurances,
frozen in time for my audience to ponder.
Photoshop
has replaced the ‘wet’ darkroom of the old days,
and my current
work is
created with high-resolution digital
SLR
cameras as well as my trusty pocket digital camera
that I try to keep with me at all times. Inkjet prints have
replaced photographic printing, which has let me print on a variety of
fine textured archival papers.
For
over 35 years, I have been active in photography, having first
exhibited my
work at age 16 as a member of the Sarasota (FL) Art Association.
In
recent
years, I have won several awards in juried shows and I post new
work
monthly on my
websites.
Typically,
I exhibit limited-edition, archival pigment prints of 16” x 20” and 11”x15”,
and
my work is available for purchase and licensing. Prints
are printed in editions
of 20 signed pieces.
Originally
from Atlanta, GA, my formal education includes studying
Fine Art at the University of Florida,
and I continue to refine my senses
of tone,
design and
composition. Residing in
Riverdale, NY, I am
employed by a Madison Ave. advertising agency
as a
Senior
Print Production Manager.
